Coupon codes (Product Update, February 2020)

This is an archived product update, and may not contain the most up-to-date information.

Yes, just in time for Christmas, we’ve shipped another big improvement to Paperbell!

And you don’t even have to wait until the 25th to open up your shiny, brand new COUPON CODES!!

So, why would you use coupon codes?

Of course the most obvious reason is to have a promotion – 20% off once you enter your email, hosting a limited-time holiday sale, etc.

You can also use a coupon code as a way to let clients access packages for free. Maybe you have a client who has paid by wire transfer, but you want to track and deliver the service in Paperbell. You can simply create a 100% coupon code that you share just with them so that they can easily “buy” your package in Paperbell for free.

(This is a major time saver for those of you who have had to create a separate invite-only free version of your package in the past.)

Coupon codes are also useful for giving special prices for VIP clients. For example, you could give clients who already have an ongoing subscription with you, a coupon code to purchase additional one-off sessions at a discount.

Now let’s dig into how to set up and use coupon codes. (Good news, this section is really short because they are really simple!)

You’ll find coupon codes at the very bottom of the “summary” section of your package.

To create a new coupon code, simply click the add button, enter the code (what your clients will type in to redeem the coupon) and choose the percentage off discount. That’s it! You can create as many codes as you like.

FAQ

Where do my clients enter the code?

After scheduling their appointment, clients can enter their coupon code when confirming their payment.

How can I make a code that applies to more than one package?

You can use the same coupon code across different packages, but you’ll need to re-create it for every package.

Can I create a fixed amount off instead of a percentage?

No, it must be a percentage. But you can simply figure out the fixed amount you want to take off then work out what that would be in a percentage. 🙂

Can I create different coupons for different payment options in the same package? I want 15% off the pay in full option, but 10% off the three-pay option.

No, if you want to do this, you’d need to create different packages for the different payment options.

How do coupons work for subscriptions or payment plans?

Coupons will take the same amount off every monthly payment, for the entirety of the package.

Do my clients see the coupon code field every time?

No! It will only show up if you’ve created a coupon for that package. (Cool huh?)

Can I create multiple codes for the same package?

Yes, as many as you like!

Can I set an expiration date?

You can’t set a date beforehand, but you can simply archive the coupon code to expire it. (Payments will remain unchanged from clients who have already purchased with the coupon code.)

Can I use coupon codes to offer free packages?

Yes! Just set the percentage off to 100%.

What happens when I archive a coupon code?

When you archive a coupon code, it will no longer work for new clients. However, payments will remain unchanged from any client who has already used the code. For example, if a client used the code to get 20% off their ongoing subscription, their payments would still charge at the discount price once you archive the coupon.
