You can use your own domain for your Paperbell website instead of your paperbell.me URL.
We recommend connecting a subdomain to Paperbell, such as www.yourdomain.com. This setup is supported by most domain providers and avoids some of the limitations that can come with connecting yourdomain.com directly.
If you already have a website at your main domain, you can use another subdomain instead, such as: coaching.yourdomain.com
Before you start: The custom domain feature is $5/month. You can add it to your subscription from your plan page.
Which domain should I use?
If you want Paperbell to be your main website
We recommend using: www.yourdomain.com
For example, if you own janecoaching.com, you’ll connect: www.janecoaching.com
Once that’s working, you can set up a redirect so that anyone who visits janecoaching.com without the www is automatically sent to your Paperbell site.
If you already have a website
If you already have a website at your main domain, you can give your Paperbell site its own subdomain instead.
For example:
coaching.yourdomain.com
book.yourdomain.com
This lets you keep your existing website exactly where it is while using your custom domain for Paperbell too.
Step 1: Add your domain in Paperbell
Log in to Paperbell and open the Website Editor in the top right.

Select Settings, then click Use your own domain.

Enter the full address you want to use for your Paperbell website.
For most people, this will be: www.yourdomain.com

Be sure to replace “yourdomain” with the domain you own.
In the example above we added:
www.coachingonmydomain.com
If you’re using another subdomain, enter the full address instead:
booking.coachinonmydomain.com

Click Save changes. Paperbell will show you the DNS record you’ll need to add with your domain provider.

Keep this page open. You’ll need this information for the next step.
Step 2: Connect your domain with your domain provider
Now you’ll need to add a DNS record with the company that manages your domain.
If you’re using www, the Paperbell record is:
| Type | Name | Value |
| CNAME | www | custom.paperbell.me |
The Name is just: www You don’t need to enter your full domain in this field.
If you’re using another subdomain, the Name is the part before your domain.
For example, for: coaching.yourdomain.com you would use:
| Type | Name | Value |
| CNAME | coaching | custom.paperbell.me |
There will also be a tab labelled TTL (Time To Live). Try and choose the shortest time possible from the options provided.
Choose your domain provider for step-by-step instructions on where to add this record:

Step 3: Wait for your domain to connect
Once you’ve added the DNS record, return to Paperbell.
DNS changes aren’t always immediate. Most changes happen fairly quickly, but it can sometimes take up to 48 hours for DNS changes to update globally. Paperbell will continue checking for your domain for up to 72 hours.
Once the connection is complete, you’ll be able to visit your custom domain and see your Paperbell website.
Using www? Make your domain work without it too
If you’ve connected: www.yourdomain.com there’s one more step we recommend.
www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com are technically two different addresses. Connecting www doesn’t automatically make the version without www work.
You can set up a redirect so that: yourdomain.com → www.yourdomain.com
That way, visitors reach your Paperbell site whether or not they type www.
Next: Make your domain work without www
Can I connect yourdomain.com directly to Paperbell instead?
We recommend using www.yourdomain.com.
The version without www is called the root or apex domain. Paperbell’s custom domain setup uses a CNAME record, and many domain providers don’t allow a standard CNAME record at the root of a domain.
Using www avoids this limitation and gives you a setup that works consistently across more domain providers.
If you want visitors to be able to type yourdomain.com, you don’t need to connect it directly to Paperbell. Connect www.yourdomain.com to Paperbell and then set up a redirect from yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com.
