There’s a gap that almost nobody warns new coaches about. You can spend months learning to coach, earn your certification, and feel genuinely good in a session, then stop dead in your tracks the moment it’s time to build a business around it.
Scheduling, contracts, getting paid, keeping track of clients: the practical side of running a practice is where a lot of talented, certified coaches get stuck. They know how to coach, they just never get up the courage to start their business.
Closing that gap is the whole reason Called Coach Institute (CCI) exists. Plenty of programs teach you to coach and hand you a certificate. CCI treats actually launching your practice as part of the training, not something you’re left to figure out alone afterward.
What do the numbers say?
The proof shows up in how many of their students finish and what they do once they graduate. CCI has an 86% completion rate, against the 10 to 15% that’s typical for online programs. They’ve certified over 1000 women so far, including 653 in a single graduating class.
Here’s the stat we find most telling though: of the coaches who came to Paperbell through CCI, 81% are still active in Paperbell today. That’s a strong sign they’re still running the practices they were trained to build.
So is CCI the right school for you?
CCI is worth a look if you want a program with a spiritual foundation rather than a secular one. It runs as live cohorts rather than recorded videos, so you’re not working through it alone, and support continues after certification through an accelerator that helps you get your first paying clients.
We sat down with the CCI team to ask how they built it. Here’s what they told us.
It started with one woman who couldn’t see the shape of her calling yet
Q: What’s the origin story of CCI? What gap in coach training were you trying to fill?
CCI was built for a specific woman: the one who feels God calling her to more but can’t quite see what it’s supposed to look like yet. Founder Natasha Miller was that woman. She had a voice that mattered in the Kingdom and still wrestled for years with how God wanted her to use it.
The story goes back more than a decade in online education. Natasha and her husband Jamal met on Facebook in 2013 and shared their love story online. It went viral, and almost overnight they were at the center of a movement of Christian singles hungry for godly guidance. That became Miller Media Group, and then The One University, which grew to more than 4,000 students in two years and became one of the largest Christian relationship programs online.
As it grew, both of them stepped into coaching. Jamal coached leaders like Dr. Dharius Daniels, Apostle John Eckhardt, and Michelle Williams. Natasha was discipling hundreds of women a month through her Fearless Women community.
The seed of CCI got planted when Natasha pursued her own coaching certification. It taught solid methodology, but she spotted two things missing: nobody gave you the practical systems to actually start working with real clients, and none of it was built on a spiritual foundation.
So she and Jamal hand-selected a team of anointed, expert coaches and built CCI’s signature Spirit-Led Coaching Model, a framework that gives women both the practical steps to run a real coaching practice and the discernment of the Holy Spirit at the center of every session.
Faith is the foundation, not a footnote
Q: What makes your approach different from other certification programs?
Most programs take a secular curriculum and add Scripture on top. CCI built it the other way around.
Their proprietary Spirit-Led Coaching Model pairs proven coaching methodology (powerful questions, goal-setting, accountability) with the discernment of the Holy Spirit. That’s what moves a client past simply hitting a goal and into real wholeness, healing, and purpose. It’s fully integrated with professional standards and ethics, and the program is accredited by the Association for Coaching.
Two other things set the program apart.
It’s live, not evergreen. The 130.5-hour certification runs as live cohorts three times a year. That’s a deliberate choice, because live drives results. An 86% completion rate against a 10 to 15% industry norm is hard to argue with. A dedicated student success team guides students the whole way through, with structured support, consistent touch points, and community spaces.
They heal the coach before they build the coach. The program opens with Me Mastery, a phase of honest inner work and healing, because you can’t pour from an empty cup or coach from an open wound. Students start with orientation and self-reflection, working to understand how their past experiences shaped their path. They work through personal issues, build confidence in their calling, and get a deep understanding of themselves. By the end of the phase, they’ve developed habits and actionable plans to get past their own obstacles.
Q: What’s a moment with a student that reminded you why you do this?
One graduate came to CCI after a season that had affected nearly every part of her life, including her health, independence, income, and housing stability. She described CCI as the place where she realized she had been “planted, not buried.”
Watching her and countless other students rebuild their sense of identity and recognize that their lived experiences have purpose is exactly why CCI exists. The goal is not simply to help women earn a certification. It’s to help them recognize what gifts and experiences they carry, and learn how to steward them well in service of someone else.
Calling over credentials
Q: What do you look for in the people you admit?
The women who thrive at CCI usually already:
- Carry a story of overcoming they want to use to help other women
- Are the person people come to for advice and confide in
- Want to coach in a way that draws people closer to God and His Word
- Are often already ministers, leaders, teachers, or people-focused professionals
As the team puts it: they’re not looking for the most impressive résumé. Testimony is more transformational than titles. They’re looking for the woman who’s been called to make a lasting impact and is ready to answer.
Q: How many coaches have you certified?
- 1,100+ women certified to date
- 653 in their largest graduating class
- 100,000+ women in their Called to Women challenges and weekly masterclasses
In 2026 they’re running three live cohorts of roughly 300 to 600 students each. The live format is intentional. They’d rather protect the depth and keep things high touch than push volume. The long-term goal: 10,000 Spirit-Led coaches certified by 2030.
Q: What do your graduates typically go on to do?
Plenty launch Christian coaching practices and serve clients through one-to-one coaching, group programs, workshops, or ministry-based work. Others fold coaching into careers they already have, in leadership, mentoring, wellness, education, and faith-based service. Some come back to CCI as coaches, instructors, or community leaders.
The common thread is that they start turning lived experience, training, and calling into structured support for other women.
The coaching clicks. The business is where women freeze.
Q: What do your students struggle with most after certification?
This is the honest answer a lot of schools skip: the coaching clicks, and the business building is where women freeze. Usually because they don’t know what to focus on first, so they stay stuck in planning instead of taking action.
CCI’s answer is Momentum, a 14-week post-certification accelerator that gives each coach a clear order of operations so she moves instead of stalling. It walks her through dialing in her offer and pricing, getting visible, and enrolling her first paying clients through a guided 14-Day Launch Challenge.
Q: What do you want every graduate to leave with?
Four things at the core:
- A faith-based foundation: coaching through a biblical lens, with faith and strategy integrated seamlessly
- Comprehensive training: essential coaching skills, advanced techniques, and business-building strategy
- Practical experience: supervised coaching labs, peer feedback, and real-world practicums
- A thriving community: fellow Christian coaches, plus ongoing support and mentorship
Support goes well past recorded lessons. Students get a private community, live coaching labs, and a coaching intensive where they practice with real clients before graduating, with instructor access for guidance and feedback throughout.
After graduation, two things keep the momentum going. The Called Coach Directory is a curated database every graduate can be featured in, connecting Spirit-filled coaches with women actively looking for one and signaling that she was trained by a trusted institution. And Momentum turns the certification into paying clients with weekly live training, a dedicated implementation week after each session, and that 14-Day Launch Challenge.
Why CCI hands every graduate a Paperbell account
Q: Why did partnering with Paperbell make sense?
From the start, we knew we didn’t just want to teach our students how to coach. We wanted to hand them an easy system for running the business side too.
After researching a number of coaching platforms, CCI chose Paperbell because it was the simplest to set up, the easiest to teach, and the easiest for students to manage on their own. It gives a new coach one clean system for the day-to-day client experience, with onboarding, scheduling, and payments in one place, so she can focus on what actually matters, which is coaching. It’s taught inside Momentum, and students use it to run and enroll their practicum clients.
Q: What’s the reaction when students hear they get free months of Paperbell?
The practical value lands immediately. These women have already invested significant time, energy, and money into becoming certified. Getting access to a tool they can use right away removes one more expense and one more decision at the exact moment when decisions feel heaviest.
Instead of sending graduates off with a list of software they still need to research and buy, the partnership gives them a concrete place to begin, with a tool they can keep using with comfort and confidence.
Q: How much work was the partnership on your end?
The initial setup and curriculum integration was very straightforward. The bigger lift turned out to be teaching the platform and supporting students as they configured it for their own businesses. There were far more implementation questions than the team expected.
As the partnership evolved, Paperbell stepped in to provide dedicated training and setup support for CCI students. That’s been a real benefit, because it lets the CCI team stay focused on coaching and curriculum while students get expert guidance from the people who know the platform best. A win-win for everyone involved.
Q: Would you recommend other schools do something similar?
Absolutely, if you actually want your graduates to launch. When a tool is already in your curriculum, a partnership lowers friction, raises adoption, and improves outcomes, because graduates leave with the systems to run a real business, not just knowledge.
One last piece of advice
Q: If you could give one piece of advice to a coach graduating today, what would it be?
Don’t wait to feel ready, you won’t. Confidence isn’t a feeling you get before the reps, it’s the residue you get after them. Start with one clear offer, one simple system, and one real person to serve, then do it again. Consistency beats waiting.
And don’t forget why you started. What God did in you was never just for you.
The takeaway is simple. The hardest part of a coaching career usually isn’t learning how to coach, it’s everything that comes after: getting set up to take clients and actually get paid. CCI closes that gap by teaching the business right alongside the craft, and by handing every graduate a system to run it. That’s a big part of why their students finish, launch, and keep going at rates most programs never reach.
If you run a coaching school, this is the piece worth sitting with. The schools that stand out are the ones whose graduates actually go on to build something, and nothing signals that better than alumni who launched real practices and have the testimonials to prove it. Handing your students a done-for-you business system, the way CCI does with Paperbell, is one of the simplest ways to make that happen, and to make your program a more obvious choice for the next coach deciding where to train. Here’s what a partnership looks like.
